Peer Mentoring

The sociology department instituted a peer mentoring program for sociology majors, minors, all other students interested in sociology in Fall 1998. Seven to ten students, all senior sociology majors, serve as peer advisors to younger sociology majors, minors, and those interested in majoring in sociology. You can contact the peer mentors at the sociology learnlink conference. They are happy to answer any questions you may have about the sociology major. The program is structured to meet the following categories and corresponding needs:

  • newly declared sociology majors and minors, and students who are thinking about declaring sociology;
  • sociology majors and minors who have concerns about internships, opportunities, classes, or career directions;
  • Oxford majors who may have a difficult transition to the Emory campus; and
  • majors who are considering participating in our Honors program.

The peer mentors' interests cover our major areas in sociology (e.g., criminology, law, public health, political sociology, social psychology, communications and journalism, public policy, and medicine). Below is the list of peer mentors and their interests.
